Cayenne Espresso Chocolate Mousse
Skip the Dairy! This is perhaps the easiest chocolate mousse ever created, harnessing the smooth, mousse-like consistency of the avocado to create the Cayenne Espresso Chocolate Mousse. In this recipe, the depth of flavors from the chocolate and espresso and heat pair well with red wines and strawberries to create a healthy Paleo Vegan dessert.
Most mousses call for the use of dairy, however, dairy is not part of a healthy Paleo Vegan Diet. Instead for this recipe we use Hass avocados which have amazing superfood powers and several little-known health properties and benefits. They are loaded with fiber, and have more potassium than bananas, and can even lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels. So go ahead, and enjoy this Cayenne Espresso Chocolate Mousse with the knowledge that you are taking great care of your body and your environment!
- 1 ripe Hass avocado
- 1/4 Cup Cacao Powder
- 2 shots of espresso
- 4 Medjool dates, pitted
- 2 TBSP Maple Syrup
- 1-2 Dashes Cayenne
- Remove pits from dates.
- Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender.
- Blend until smooth and mousse-like.
- Cover and refrigerate 2-3 hours or until set*
The mousse may be eaten immediately after blended, but for a firmer, silkier, and richer texture that is comparable to dairy-based mousse, you will want it to complete the last step. Great garnished with bananas, pistachios, slivered almonds, and berries of any kind.
